Quilling three tier flower pot

DIY Paper Quilled three step miniature flower vase

Yesterday when  I have visited  my friend’s home , I have seen a Three tier flower pot in their garden . The planter brimming with the combination of beautiful pink and purple flowers was very eye-catching and unique. The stacking of pots was drawing everyone’s attention as it is so simple and beautiful. I loved the colour choices of the flowers as they complement each other perfectly.
Well! I was very much impressed with the flower pot .It inspired me to make a craft that looks same as the real one. Unfortunately , I haven’t taken the picture of the pot, yet I decided to do the three tier Quilling pot 🙂
After spending 10 hours finally the quilling three tier flower pot is ready.. 🙂

From plastic to tulips

How to make tulip flowers out of plastic spoons

Nowadays Plastic is everywhere. Even though Plastic is a known disaster we are not able to avoid its usage since plastic has become an everyday part of our lives. Million tons of plastic trash is floating on the ocean’s surface as garbage patches causing environmental problems. It is quite impossible to avoid plastic all of a sudden but we can decrease the plastic pollution by following so many simple ways.

Don’t worry !! 🙂 Now I am not going to show what are all the ways everyone must follow to avoid plastic.
I would like to show how to reuse plastics, one of those ways to conserve and protect  the environment. Instead of throwing away waste plastics we can reuse them to make beautiful things. This might protect the environment to some extent.
Here I made tulips out of plastic spoons and plastic milk can/bottle . The below embedded video shows how I made the tulips out of plastic..  🙂

Hope you enjoyed watching the video. Please don’t forget to comment if you like the post 🙂

Paper cut wall art

DIY wall decoration using paper

I always love to find inexpensive and DIY ways to decorate my home. This simple DIY project added some allure to my home. This might look tough to make but this is a simple paper cut design. I have used a white note paper for the stem design and color cardboard sheets as background. The background colors added more glow to the art. It is really quick and easy wall art.. Try it !!

Steps to follow to make this Paper cut wall art..

Step 1 :

Get two pieces of paper in contrasting colors for each design.

The final picture shows three designs joined together. So, here I have chosen 3 White note papers to make the actual paper cut design and 3 different colors(red, green, yellow) of Card Stock paper for background.

Step 2:

Draw a pattern of Stem and leaves on White note paper with pencil

Step 3:

Gently cut along the edges of leaf shapes using paper cut knife. Twist the cut edge slightly upwards until half portion of the leaf as shown.

After twisting all leaves , it looks very impressive..

Draw a thicker line on stems using a brown color sketch pen. And stick the paper to any color cardstock paper using glue.

Step 4:

Proceed the same process for the middle design choosing different pattern.

Step 5:

Here I drew a mirror image of first pattern.

To draw the mirror pattern,

  • Place the  first pattern and the plain new white paper one on another. While placing make sure that the first pattern is reversed.
  • Now trace the mirror image of the first pattern using pencil

Repeat the procedure in step 3.

Step 6:

Stick the three patterns  together using glue and pin them to wall.

Art out of Broomstick

DIY handwade wall hanging using broomsticks

Creating beautiful things out of crap is very enjoyable. These things change the look of your home in awesome ways. Lord Ganesha is a famous deity and popularly known as the God of success. He is honoured as the first god to worship before doing something new .In Hindu community, people used to present each other with  Idols, photo frames of Lord Ganesh for any occasion especially housewarming ceremonies . Giving Lord Ganesh art as a gift to anyone to wish them all the luck in the world gives them immense happiness as Ganesh is the  god of wealth and prosperity.

Here I have tried to make Lord Ganesh using broom stick. Try this beautiful art and surprise your friends by presenting them. It is a pretty home decor also 🙂

Lord venkateshwara with quilled flowers

Flower Alankara for Tirumala Lord

Lord Venkateshwara is a form of Mahavishnu, refers to the Supreme lord who destroys sins.He resides at Tirupati, an important holy sanctuary for the worshippers in regard to Lord Vishnu.

He is popularly known to be ‘Alankara Priyudu’ (One who likes to get decorated) and so the temple is always famous for its floral decoration.
One of my friends has gifted me a gold plated idol of Lord Venkateshwara which looks so elegant and regal. Decorating Lord Balaji is quite challenging as whatever we decorate it looks invisible in front of the legend’s elegance 🙂

For the floral decoration , I have chosen multi color 5mm quilling strips.
Finally, the fully decorated idol of the supreme is here… 🙂

Spring blossoms at home

DIY Spring Blossoms using tissue papers easily at home

We all eagerly anticipate the first signs of spring. What happens when spring starts?.. Plants grow again, Flowers bloom, birds start chirping gleefully in the morning.
The earth looks very beautiful filled with vibrant hues of spring blossoms.

I always love to walk beneath the trees with clusters of blossoms, it gives me the feeling of tranquility.
I wonder “Who made these flowers ? I shall think of God, for he made them” they are so fragile, beautiful and precious. We might think that the world would be a better place if the blossoms were always in bloom. But ” Everything in this world fades” , soon the blossoms starts to fade and die and the spring ends.
I had a thought, what if I have blossoms in my home?  I had been planning a spring tree craft which gives me feel as if i am with real blossoms.
Now I have created the below blossom tree with three different shades of green, blue and yellow..
Coming home gives me solace when I see this tree craft. It’s so pretty and colorful 🙂

This is a simple and easy craft . I have used the tree sticks from my yard and different colors of tissue papers for making blossoms.

Step by step illustration for spring blossom craft:

  1. Collect some dried twigs or branches from your yard.
  2. Paint them using brown acrylic and allow them to dry.
  3. In the mean time , grab some tissue papers of your own color choice. Here I have chosen blue, yellow and light green colors. Cut out few flower shapes from the tissue papers, twist them using glue forming blossoms.
  4. Gently adhere the blossoms to the painted twigs.

5.Finally arrange the sticks in a vase.
