Tree with Quilled flowers

Today I would like to share my recent project, Quilling Tree. The trunk and branches of the tree are made out of newspapers and the flowers are made out of quilling strips.

Here is how the tree looks..

Let’s see how I made this craft..

Things I used for making this craft:

  1. News papers
  2. A miniature pot
  3. floral wire and floral tapes(brown and green)
  4. Quilling strips
  5. glue
  6. Popsicle stick

Initially to make the trunk and branches of the tree ,take amaller pieces of newspaper and twist them. Then wrap them using brown floral tape using glue as shown below.

To make flowers, roll the quilling strips in to tight coils using quilling tool and twist them in to tear drop shape. stick four tear drops together to form a flower. Attach the flower to the floral wire which was wrapped using green floral tape . Repeat this process and make several flowers with various colored quilling strips. And then attach the flowers to the branches of the tree.

After sticking all the flowers to the branches insert the tree in to the miniature pot. To make it stand comfortably I used Popsicle stick.

Quilling flower vase

Hi Everyone!! Today I am posting a quilled vase with daisy flowers. It’s amazing that I can use this flower vase as a coffee table decor. This¬†looks really pretty¬†and doesn’t¬†really¬†need anything else to stand out.

Sometimes you don’t use the whole quilling strip set for designing. There are always few left over strips. Here, the vase is made out of these left over quilling strips. At first , I made tight coils using multi color strips and then arranged them forming a vase. For the daisy flowers I made small loose coils twisted slightly to form tear drop shapes and all these tear drop shapes (petals) are glued together with a tight coil in the center.

For the stems I used floral wire wrapped green with floral tape. You can get the floral wire and floral tape from any arts and crafts store.

Pencil Holder out of Bottle caps

Instead of trashing bottle caps, here is an easy way to make use of them. I believe that you will start preserving bottle caps after seeing this craft !! It’s more fun to do and kids will enjoy in making their own school supplies ūüôā

Things required:

  1. Place mat
  2. Glue gun
  3. bottle caps
  4. emojis printout
  5. Scissors and glue

Steps to make pencil holder..

1. To make the base for the holder , here I used Tea place mat. cut the place mat in to required shape if necessary.

2. Hot glue can easily bond plastic materials, so here I used glue gun for sticking bottle caps. At first, stick each cap one by one along the edge of the base. Once the bottom layer is done , gently start sticking the caps one by one between each two top tips of the first layer to form second layer. Repeat the process to make two more layers.

3. Finally decorate the holder with smiley emojis.. To do this I took a several colored paper printouts of one of google smiley images

Stick them to each bottle cap using glue. I hope these smileys will bring smile on your face:)

Here I made a video on how to make this pencil holder.. Hope you will love it !!!

Ganesh Mandir out of paper towel rolls

Hello everyone!! Today, I have something very interesting to show you all. Before that let me put some words about what we all do on Ganesh Chathurthi. We all knew that, Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated with great devotion all over India. On this auspicious day people think of new and creative ideas to decorate their house and offers prayers to Lord Ganesh idol in order to gratify the deity.
When it comes to decoration, people search for creative ideas to make their decoration unique and eye-catchy. Now-a-days everyone are more interested in making eco-friendly Ganesh idols to save nature. That’s the great change!!
To place the statues of Lord Ganesh , Mandapas or Mandirs are built in homes, temples, localities and streets. These are beautifully decorated either by flower garlands, lights, etc. or are theme based decorations.
This year on Ganesh chathurthi, I made a Mandir for Ganesh idol  by using tissue paper rolls and a package box .Since it is quite simple , I decided to share this craft idea on my blog. Please have a look !!

Things required:

  1. Any Package box
  2. Paper towel rolls
  3. Colored paper towel (yellow)
  4. Scissors, sellotape , glue
  5. flower garland
  6. Lights

Steps to follow:

  1.  First remove the flaps of the package box and then make four equal partial triangular shapes from the four rectangular faces/sides as shown.
  2. To make the top covered structure (Mandap),join all the four pieces by taping the edges together.
  3. Using sellotape stick the paper towel rolls to the mandap on four sides forming pillars for the mandap.
  4. Now make an ornate gopuram shape out of the removed flaps of package box and stick it to the top of the mandap .
  5.  Adhere gold or yellow color tissue paper using glue. Use the package box bottom face as base for the Mandap.
  6. Wrap the flower garland around the pillars to create stunning look . Here I wrapped front two pillars and the front face of the Mandap.

Quilling Anniversary gift

I believe that handmade gifts has higher value since they are unique and creative. When you present a person with your handmade gift , it would bring a wide smile on their face and nothing brings you quite as much happiness as that expression on their face with these words : You did this for me? !! Isn’t it true? yes, that special gift makes the receiver more special ūüôā

I have been learning Quilling since one year. Initially I would like to thank one of my colleagues who taught me the basic shapes of quilling. With that I started learning to make quilling artworks.¬†Since I love the art of quilling, I came up with this idea of presenting a Quilling Photo frame for my cousin’s Wedding Anniversary!!

For this I have used 3 mm Quilling strips. At first without having any complete idea what to make I started making the different flower shapes and leaves with the use of basic quilling tool.

After  making these beautiful shapes , I arranged them on a cream color cardstock paper forming a heart shape.I have used a green color cardstock paper to fill the heart shape.

Finally ,after sticking the couple photo here is the pic of completed artwork !!! It looks colorful and this is an amazing masterpiece !!  I hope you would love this artwork ..
